Butler County Fire Investigation Team
BCFIT

The Butler County Fire Investigation Team is comprised of Investigators from departments all over Butler County. We respond to structure fires, car fires, and explosion incidents within Butler County when requested by the Fire Chiefs. We average about 25 call outs per year. We work with the local jurisdiction and local police jurisdiction determining cause and origin of fire located within Butler County. Our Team members all must have at minimum a 40-hour Basic Fire Investigation Class. Some of our members hold National Credentials as Certified Fire Investigators (CFI), Fire Investigator Technicians (FIT), Evidence Collection Technicians (ECT), and Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI). There credentials are determined by professional organizations. These organizations are International Association of Arson Investigators and National Association of Arson Investigators. Our members have to attend meetings and trainings regularly to keep up on the most current standards in the Fire Investigation world.
